Yunnan Yunjing Forestry & Paper Co., Ltd., also known as Yuntou Forestry & Paper, has released the second public notice for the environmental impact assessment of its planned 760,000 tonnes per year chemical pulp integrated green and low-carbon transformation and expansion project.
According to the announcement issued on May 14, the project will involve construction of a new 500,000 t/a chemical pulp production line in addition to the company’s existing facilities. Upon completion, the site’s total chemical pulp production capacity is expected to reach 760,000 t/a.
The company said it will retain two existing pulp production lines, a tissue paper production line, a No. 2 chlorine dioxide production line and an existing chlor-alkali workshop as part of the upgraded operation.
Under the plan, the existing alkali recovery workshop and the No. 1 chlorine dioxide production line will be phased out and replaced with a new alkali recovery workshop and supporting infrastructure designed to accommodate both current and expanded pulping capacity.
The project will also retain an existing 150-ton coal-fired boiler as a backup unit during maintenance periods for biomass boilers.
The investment is part of Yuntou Forestry & Paper’s broader strategy to modernize operations through integrated green, low-carbon and intelligent manufacturing upgrades within its pulp production business.
