Zomato has introduced a ‘Low Plastic Packaging’ filter on its app to help users identify restaurants that use sustainable, low-plastic alternatives such as paper, bagasse, glass, and aluminium for food delivery packaging. Available under the ‘Trust Markers’ section, the filter highlights restaurants enrolled in Zomato’s Plastic-Free Future Program with a “low plastic packaging” label on menu pages and order summaries, enhancing visibility and transparency at the point of purchase. Launched in December 2024, the program now includes about 10,000 restaurants from over 290 brands across more than 490 cities and has already enabled 80 million low-plastic orders. Zomato is also pursuing 100% plastic-neutral deliveries through a voluntary recycling initiative that recycles plastic waste equivalent to that used in its delivery packaging, totaling roughly 45,000 metric tonnes since FY23.
